The Virgin Islands Bar Association (the "V.I.B.A") is an integrated bar, meaning that membership is a condition precedent to the right to practice law.

· An active member of the V.I.B.A would fall under one of the following three categories: Pro Hac Vice, Special and Regular Admissions

· In 1989, the Supreme Court struck down a one year residency requirement for practicing law in the Virgin Islands, holding that such violated the Privileges and Immunities Clause of the United States Constitution.

· The Superior Court of the Virgin Islands (formerly the Territorial Court) has jurisdiction to admit lawyers to practice in the Virgin Islands. Admission to the Superior Court bar is simultaneously admission to Virgin Islands Bar.
